What to Know Before Using Your Lavelier Intensive Facial Peel

Whether you’ve just purchased your first jar of the Lavelier Intensive Facial Peel or you’ve been a fan for a while, congratulations – you’re on the path to achieving beautifully radiant skin!

Designed to gently exfoliate the face while pampering it with a variety of skin-loving ingredients, this Lavelier peel leaves the skin looking brighter, smoother, and deeply refreshed. You’ll notice its effects after the very first time you use it, with results only improving over time.

That said, if you want your Intensive Facial Peel to be as powerful as possible, there are a few things that you should know before using it…

Always Start With Skin That’s Clean & Dry

While some exfoliants are designed to be used on damp skin, others, including the Lavelier Intensive Facial Peel, should only be used on dry skin. Applying the peel to wet skin will prevent it from working to its full potential, leaving results lacking.

However, while dry skin is important, clean skin is even more so. You need to remove that layer of dirt and oil from the surface of your skin in order for the peel to reach your skin cells. One of the main exfoliating ingredients in this formula is mandelic acid, an almond-derived alpha-hydroxy acid. It’s loved for how it clears out pore blockages, but it won’t be able to do that if it can’t access your pores.

What’s the best cleanser to use pre-peel? We have the perfect formula for you to try:

The Biology Mousse Cleanser & the Marine Facial Toner

Lavelier skin products

For a deeply refreshing cleanse, Lavelier’s Biology Mousse Cleanser won’t disappoint. Infused with organic botanical extracts and plant oils, this cleanser forms a luxurious lather but doesn’t leave the skin feeling dry. It will lift away the dirt, excess sebum, pollutants, and other impurities from the surface of your skin, paving the way for your Lavelier Intensive Facial Peel.

Enhance your cleansing experience even more by following up with our Marine Facial Toner. With aloe vera leaf juice, seaweed extract, cucumber extract, and chamomile extract, this toner feels incredibly soothing and hydrating. It’ll remove any residue left behind from your cleanser while preparing your skin for the rest of your routine.

Use the Right Amount of Product

So, how much of the Lavelier Intensive Facial Peel should you be using each time you exfoliate?

Unfortunately, there isn’t a single answer to this question. Some people will need more, while others will need less. While you don’t want to overdo it and end up wasting product, using too little will prevent your face from getting the coverage that it needs.

We would recommend scooping out a small amount of the peeling gel before returning for more if you need it. After you’ve used the peel a few times, you’ll know exactly how much your skin needs!

Be Firm Yet Gentle When Massaging the Peel Onto Your Skin

It’s never a good idea to be overly rough with your skin when exfoliating. This is especially the case if the product that you’re using contains compounds that physically exfoliate the skin.

In the case of the Lavelier Intensive Facial Peel, this would be bamboo powder and walnut shell powder. Scrub at your skin in an aggressive way and you’ll only end up causing micro-tears, no matter how soft those particles may be.

While that may be the case, you don’t want to be too gentle with your skin either. An exfoliant needs a certain amount of pressure in order to work.

So, be firm but gentle. It’s okay to press the exfoliant down onto your skin, but don’t push too hard.

Give Your Neck Some Love Too

Most people tend to focus their exfoliating efforts on their faces. However, don’t forget that your neck needs some attention too!

The skin on the neck is just as delicate as the skin on the face. Due to all of the movement it experiences, it can develop signs of wear and tear much faster than the face too. Whether this may be the appearance of wrinkles, sagging skin, crepiness, or anything else, give your neck the love that it deserves with the Lavelier Intensive Facial Peel.

Use Cool Water to Rinse the Peel Off

As you massage the Lavelier Intensive Facial Peel onto your skin, you’ll notice that it starts to form tiny clumps. This is the peel gathering up your dead skin cells and other pore blockages. Once this happens, it’s time to rinse the peel off.

You may be tempted to use warm water to do so, but cool water is so much more beneficial for your skin at this stage. It’ll help to tighten the look of your pores, while also boosting blood flow. This then gives the skin a rosy glow.

The Lavelier Intensive Facial Peel Contains Powerful Vitamins

It’s always worth having a basic understanding of the ingredients in the skincare products you’re using. When it comes to the Lavelier Intensive Facial Peel, we’ve already mentioned how this product contains both chemical and physical exfoliants.

However, this facial peel isn’t only about exfoliating the skin. Instead, it’s also infused with a number of other beautifying ingredients.

Vitamin C is one of them, with two forms of this potent antioxidant included in the formula. One of these, ascorbic acid, is the purest form of vitamin C available.

Vitamin A makes an appearance too, as does vitamin E.

Wondering how these ingredients affect how you use the Lavelier Intensive Facial Peel?

They don’t, but they affect the products that you use in the rest of your skincare routine. For example, if your skin isn’t used to vitamin C, then combining the peel with other potent vitamin C products could prove to be too much for your skin.

That brings us to our next tip…

Follow a Post-Exfoliation Skincare Routine

Exfoliation removes the skin’s outer protective layer, which leaves it feeling temporarily vulnerable. For this reason, you should never leave your skin bare after exfoliating it. Always follow your Lavelier peel up with moisturizing skincare products.

What exactly should you be applying to your skin post-peel?

Here’s a routine that you can follow:

Apply a Face Mask

Freshly exfoliated skin is extremely receptive to skincare products, making this the perfect time to use a face mask. Your chosen mask will be able to dive deep down into your pores since your exfoliant will have removed any blockages.

What type of face mask would best complement the Lavelier Intensive Facial Peel?

We’d recommend a hydrating formula. Even though the peel itself contains hydrating ingredients, the skin always needs some extra quenching post-exfoliation.

One mask that’ll do just that is the Lavelier Coral Luminous Masque. Each box contains 14 face masks and 14 eye masks, with the masks designed to be used monthly. Each mask contains a hydrating blend of algae extract, hyaluronic acid, lavender oil, and collagen. It really is the perfect post-peel formula.

Not only will you be able to enjoy 15 minutes of relaxing bliss while the mask gets to work, but your skin will also look plumper, fresher, and brighter once you’re done.

Apply a Serum (or Two!)

Serums are a great addition to any skincare routine. Lighter in consistency than a cream, they’re able to deliver their active ingredients deep into the skin. This is especially the case post-exfoliation when pores are free of debris.

Serums are also easy to layer over the top of each other, meaning that you can use more than one. This allows you to mix and match serums to target the specific visible skin concerns you’re dealing with.

If you’re looking to add some new serums to your skincare arsenal, there are plenty to choose from at Lavelier. One of our bestsellers is our Nano Gold Serum. Enriched with gold, green tea extract, peptides, and coral seaweed extract, this formula will leave your skin looking smoother and brighter.

Alternatively, if moisture is what your skin needs, turn to the Halophil Encapsulated Serum. Each capsule contains a blend of vitamin E, sodium hyaluronate, and powerful botanical extracts. Together, they’ll have your skin feeling softer and deeply moisturized.

Another option would be the Lavelier Skin Clair Repair. This product has been designed to fade the appearance of dark spots and other forms of hyperpigmentation. It’s packed with ingredients famed for lightening the look of discoloration. These include kojic acid, lactic acid, and oligopeptide-68. So long as you’re diligent about sun protection during the day, you should see results in a matter of weeks!

Apply a Moisturizer

Applying a moisturizer is the most important post-exfoliation step. It doesn’t matter if you skip out on the mask and serums, so long as you moisturize.

Why is moisturizing so crucial? Because a moisturizer helps to replace the protective layer that your skin has just lost. A good moisturizer will form its own layer over the top of your skin, leaving your skin feeling protected once again.

Which moisturizer would be best after using the Lavelier Intensive Facial Peel?

Our top pick would be the Divine Day Defense SPF 30. This two-in-one product moisturizes the skin while also protecting it from UV rays. The skin needs this extra protection after it has been exfoliated, making this cream ideal.

Of course, if you’re exfoliating at night, you won’t need to use sunscreen until the following morning. So, turn to the Marine Evening Repair Cream instead. Formulated with vitamins, natural extracts, shea butter, and sweet almond oil, this lush blend will soften and smooth the feel of your skin while you sleep, leaving it looking rejuvenated come morning.

Don’t Over-Exfoliate

It can be tempting to go overboard when using the Lavelier Intensive Facial Peel. Sure, the product label states that the peel should only be used once or twice a week, but surely a product that leaves your skin looking so healthy and radiant can be used more often, right?

Wrong. It’s easy to make this assumption, but that’s when things start to turn sour. Over-exfoliation is a very real problem. It occurs when the skin is exfoliated too often, or with exfoliants that are too harsh.

The result is skin that feels overly sensitive. Some people break out while others experience extreme dryness. The symptoms of over-exfoliation vary drastically.

Either way, you don’t want to be dealing with any of that, making it important to go slow when it comes to exfoliating your skin. If you’re new to exfoliating, start off by doing it once a week. Then, if your skin is still looking and feeling good after a few weeks, you can bump it up to twice weekly. Thrice a week is usually not a good idea unless you have overly oily skin.
